Bill and I have been enjoying our stays at this B and B for at least 8 years when they were still in the process of renovating. It is only about a half hour drive from Chautauqua Institute so we usually combine our stay with a concert there. I love that they leave the doors open to any unrented rooms so that you are free to roam about and perhaps plan your next visit! I am a lover of the Victioian era and all it's detail. The decor of this B and B is definitely not from that sometimes fussy time, but the tasteful elegance that is present in every detail of the mix of antiques and various styles brings something new to each visit. Our favorite pastime in this place is to bring a book to read or color and just soak in the peace and atmosphere in one of at least 4 or 5 different common areas plus 3 covered porches! Last but not least is a fantastic breakfast that is far above any I have ever had in any restaurant or cruise. It always includes at least 2 kinds of juice and the berries served in summer are so huge, it looks like Richard must know some secret back entrance to the Garden on Eden! (I have never forgotten Richard admitting years ago that he owned 5 sets of China) Every breakfast is a new presentation of a wonderful hot entree. Bill has said that he would stay at this place for the food alone! Come and try it! You will experience warm and friendly hospitality rare in our times and will leave feeling like royalty!
This lovely place is incredible! We have never before experienced such warm, delightful, beautiful, and luxurious accommodations...and the gourmet breakfasts are served so elegantly that one feels like royalty. We have stayed here several times and hope to return often. If only there were more stars for us to rate it even higher than 5!
Richard is very accommodating, friendly and outgoing. We always stay at the Oaks when we are down this way. Ruffus, likes it also. He enjoyed seeing the home pets. The breakfast is wonderful, even though we did not have breakfast this time. We took Danish to go. Pat does an outstanding job. All the rooms are beautiful and very comfortable beds. Again, a very wonderful, relaxing.g time
Beautiful rooms and common areas. Many of the rooms share common bathrooms that are kinda small and lacking in some modern comforts. The owner is very nice and made us a delicious breakfast. It's in a nice area that showcases some of the nicer areas of Jamestown that still have the brick streets. It's not like going to a hotel, but if you're looking for a place with a little more atmosphere, I recommend it.
My wife and I stayed on the first floor due to my oxygen needs and were extremely comfortable the large room was remarkable and you felt like the plaza in NYC the Breakfast was to die for the general hospitality provided by the two oowner's and there Dogs was a #10 across the board
